Remote controlled telescopes

During the 60's and 70's Safran Reosc supplied various universities with astronomical telescope systems. At that time German mount was the state of the art. Safran Reosc was one the first to offer smooth drive of the polar axis thanks to friction wheels that strongly reduced the periodic errors due to gears.

Safran Reosc supplied such telescopes in the range of 1.5-1.8-m aperture to University of Bologna and Vienna, to Observatoire de Haute Provence (OHP) in France, Calar Alto observatory in Spain, ESO La Silla in Chili, etc.

More recently, Safran Reosc supplied the Sternberg Astronomical Observatory with a 2.5-m telescope and installed it in Kislovodsk observatory in Caucase. This Alt-Az telescope has been delivered with its dome, air conditioning system, weather station and control system and delivers excellent image quality.
