It is well known that metrology is as important as polishing for precision optics manufacturing. Safran Reosc has naturally built up through the years a unique skill in designing and developing precision optical metrology set-up for all size and shape of optics.

The control of the residual defect along all the spatial frequencies is mandatory in order to ensure high imaging resolution, low flare and low losses by diffusion from the various components of the optical system.

Large Fizeau interferometry

Large Fizeau Interferometry

For plano optics there are not many testing solutions: large Fizeau interferometry is the most usefull and accurate. Safran Reosc is equipped with several Fizeau interferometer systems of 100, 380, 450, 800 and 1000 mm aperture.

Our 1000 mm, unique in Europe, has been developed entirely in-house with accurate and stable optics mounting, confocal off axis parabola for unobscured beam and various positioning features. These allow us to conduct various metrology scenarii like absolute calibration with enhanced 3-Flats methodologies, stitching process to evaluate flatness of larger optics, active 90° folding flats to redirect the beam upward or downward for metrology of optical flats with vertical axis.
